Scandinavian old time recipes?
Yule season is coming and my family is preparing to do the usual honoring your ancestors meal for the holiday. This includes the following dishes.
Lefse
Lutefisk
Flote Grot
and so on. My question is usually only the ones who are raised on lutefisk like it. People like my hubby will run screaming from the room when we have it. Why does it have such an awlful reputation?

Why does it have such an awful rep? Because it is gross salted fish and it is horrible. My grandparents thought it was cute to pinch my cheeks and watch my reaction as I gagged.
There is a movie about Norwegian cuisine and how awful it is, and how much better French is, and it is actually a very touching story about friendship and giving. It is called Babette's Feast, and it is mostly in Norwegian with subtitles. This might be a nice one for your family to rent sometime. I liked it a lot!
