Why is most sushi so expensive?!

Question:

Why is most sushi so expensive?

Answer the above question, don't flame...

Answers:

Some sushi (mainly cooked varieties like shrimp) can actuaslly be quite cheap, but raw or hard-to-get fish is pricey, not only because there is so little of it out there, but also because of transportation costs. Salmon may not be too rare, but imagine having to ship it chilled but not frozen, within hours of catching it, to a restaurant where it has to be cut and served the day it was caught. Ouch, paying for gas and people to move the fish can really add up!
Also, the chef must have a considerable amount of skill to make sure the fish doesn't pick up anything that could sicken his customers. If he does mess up, he might have to throw away the ENTIRE fish! O_O
And take note that the fish itself must be of the highest quality- clean and healthy- because if it is sick, it'll make the person who eats it sick!
