What is banh mi ( Vietnamese baguette sandwich)?!
What is banh mi ( Vietnamese baguette sandwich)?
What is in it? Someone told me cold cuts and french pate and veitnamese pickles? How do you make it?
Answers:
The sandwich comes with different fillings... grilled meats, "cold cuts" (Vietnamese cold cuts), fried tofu, fish cakes... etc...

I like the crunch on the outside, but very soft on the inside French bread and the vinegared cucumbers and carrots. The vinegar is slightly sweet and not as sour as a pickle, but just enough to contrast the savory/fattiness of the meat. Also, sliced fresh jalapenos are usually incorporated into the sandwich which adds a nice bit of heat to it.
Typical in Vietnamese cooking you have hot (jalapenos), sweet and sour (the vinegared veggies) and savory with the meats, pate and a little fat in the form of butter or mayo, but typically butter.
