Why has chipotle become so popular in the US recently?

These days you see chipotle peppers in everything from salad dressing to fast food. But Chipotle peppers have been consumed in South America for hundreds of years. Why is it only now that they are part of every major fast food marketing campaign?


Answers:

It's the new catch phrase. However, some of us have appreciated it's wonderful qualities since FOREVER ;)
