such a beautiful and healthy culture of people. I mean the EVOO, I know, but even their salads have cheese and oil, and all the dishes I've looked are always described as "rich"..and high caloric. Just curious. Im still making my Pastitsio tomorrow..lol. I mean is it all the dancing? This is just a light hearted question?

Hi, again everyone, first off, thanks to everyone who answered the question. Im gonna go ahead and pick a best answer, but before I do, I just wanted to add a few details.

I made a point to say that the question was light hearted, I wasn't doubting that Greek people were a beautiful and healthy culture, and I did explain that I understood the EVOO aspect. It was only that I am making an authentic Greek dish today, and I had asked a previous question about the dish. When an answerer responded to make baklava along while I was at it, I went to go look at what baklava was. Just like the dish I am going to make today, it was described as a rich desert made with philo dough...and it got me to wondering so I looked at some more greek dishes...and many many said the same thing, rich this rich that.
It was a light hearted question and some people seemed to have a "Bone" to pick with me for asking. They are beautiful people as are all people! Thanks

In America, we think every other culture has some special way of eating that is intrinsically healthy--but when it comes down to actual medical studies most of these cultures have just as high an occurrance of heart-disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and cancer! Honey, I've known a lot of fat unhealthy Greeks--and I've never seen any culture that uses so much rich yogurt in my life (can you hear the arteries hardening as we speak)--but don't ever try to come between me and Tzatziki ! lol
