Recipe to make "Uppu Puli Dosa"?
This is a preparation of the Western Coastal region of Karnataka, Dakshina Kannada.

Yen rai! These are tamarind flavored dosas & they are delicious.
UPPU PULI DOSA:
Ingredients:
1/2 c urad daal (try toor daal for a different flavor)
1/2 c parboiled rice
1/2 c raw rice
4 tbsp fresh shredded coconut
8-10 small green chillies, finely chopped
small ball of tamarind (1 tbsp), soaking in a little hot water
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt (to taste)
METHOD:
Soak the rice and daal togther over night and grind together with all of the other ingredients to make a thick dosa batter, using water as needed.
Cover and let ferment in a warm place for 5-6 hrs. The batter should be ready, make the dosas on a hot tawa & serve with your favorite chutneys.
