Are chickpeas garbanzo beans or are they different?
Answers:
In Italy (where they originated) they are called Garbanzo Beans. But in here in the Deep South because they are a white bean the slaves referred to them as Chickpeas and the name has stuck.
So if you are in the Southern US and ask for Garbanzo beans you may get looked at funny until you correct yourself and ask for Chickpeas.
