What the heck is Hekk?!

Question:

What the heck is Hekk?

When in Hungary I ate a fish called Hekk and I would like to know what it is in English.

Answers:

Based on the online restaurant menu (see "sources"), I found out that Hekk is actually Hake, a variety of fish that includes:
- Families Gadidae (subfamily Phycinae)
- Families Merlucciidae (both subfamilies Merlucciinae and Steindachneriinae).

You can probably use cod, haddock, whiting, or pollock or other cod-like fish, but it depends on what "hekk" exactly you had in Hungary!
