Answers:

I've been to Italy several times and the pizza there is very different there. I found that the crust is thin and is usually not round, they serve it in large sheet pans with fresh grilled veggies, fresh sliced tomatoes instead of sauce in some regions and a small amount of cheese. It is usually served room temperature and they sell it by the gram. It's really yummy. I know that there are several regions in Italy, and each region does have their own take on pizza, but all in all, it is a thin crust.
Hope this helps! PS-I ate the best calzones in the world there too!
