Uhm ewwwww?!
Uhm ewwwww?
my cousin and i were making cream of brocolli and since we had too much brocolli, we decided to put the rest in a cup, sealed with plastic and secured by a rubber band. when we checked over on the remains, the cup was gone but paid no attention to it. later, we discovered my other cousin, who was 4 years old, ran off with it and stashed it in her drawer for some reason. there were little worms crawling across the decomposed brocolli. and i'm wondering - how the heck did they get there? there are no worms in her drawer, so did they form by the brocolli or something?

btw, there was water in the brocolli cup. and now it's in thetrash bag in my house because my mom won't throw it all away today and i'm sort of disturbed right here.
Answers:
Worms cannot form from broccoli. They got there because insects infiltrated the bag and laid eggs. Probably some sort of fly.
The other possibility is that the insect eggs were on the broccoli before you put it in the bag and they hatched after.
Incidentally, people used to think that's how life began- it just spontaneously began from inanimate objects. They thought larvae came from meat left out on the table. What they didn't know is that flies were landing on it and laying eggs.
