When a dish is underseasoned, what does this mean?!

Question:

When a dish is underseasoned, what does this mean?

What seasonings do I add to a dish?

Answers:

it probably has a flat taste and nothing stands out.. the most common ingredient that adds some taste is salt and pepper....
if you are into italian cooking, basil, garlic and oregano are mainstays.
chinese food, garlic, chilies, 5 spice powder, soya sauce, oyster sauce, sesamee sauce
traditionally most ethnice foods have certain spices that are common,
but for just plain old cooking, I think salt is the spice you are missing.....
