Question:

I need an Iranian Recipe for tonight!! His Family is coming over~!?

Answers:

first thought - if you've never cooked Iranian food before, perhaps it's better to cook your "best recipe" instead of trying to impress with something that will be stressful to make for the first time...I'm sure they're looking forward to meeting you and not because they're testing your cooking.

Best cookbook: New Food of Life by Najimieh Batmanglij. If you want to proceed with cooking something Iranian, use her recipe for Fillet Kabab/ easy to prepare in advance so you're not sweating. - 2 lbs. sirloin, marianated in mix of 1 large onion, 2 T olive oil, black pepper, salt, 2 t lime juice, .25 cups yogurt and 4 large tomatoes, in slices. Marinate for one hour, then skewer on sticks and baste while grilling with melted butter, juice of two limes, and salt and pepper. Serve on Lavash bread (sometimes found in freezer section - if unavailable, use pita) and make a fresh chopped salad with tomoatos, parsley, onions and lemon juice and olive oil to go on the side.

It would be a compliment to try to please his family, but even better would be to ask his mom to help you learn how to cook his favorite dishes so you can learn more about their family and do so in a relaxed way where you're honoring his mom's role. Enjoy tonight. Best idea is to have a clean house, be relaxed and be yourself.
