Floating In Olive Oil?

I had a wonderful time in Canobbio Italy. Although I love olive oil, I found the lasagna to be drenched in olive oil. Is this customary for certain regions of Italy? or what could it be?


Answers:

regions where they grow the olives and make the oil tend to use it more than the regions that dont...i'll bet there was an olive grove close by!!
