What is this? A Popita?!


Question:

What is this? A Popita?

I visited Belize and found a stand selling something like a flattened stuffed corn tortilla. The stuffing was pork or chicken & cheese, or just cheese. I think the lady making them called it a "popita" or something like that. But I can't find anything on the internet about "popita" or anything sounding similar.

Kinda reminds me of a quesadilla/poptart with meat and cheese. They are really good and fresh.

The lady was Hispanic, but I don't know if this is Mexican cuisine, Central American cuisine, or something native to Belize.

Anybody know what these are called?
