What kind of mango grows to 3lbs?!

Question:

What kind of mango grows to 3lbs?

My mother just came back from the supermarket with 2 mangoes that are at least 3lbs. It's so big that I have to hold it with two hands. The sticker that came on the mango says that its a product of Mexico. Both mangoes are still pretty green. Does anyone know what kind of mango it is, and the best way to eat them?

Answers: There are roughly 35 varieties of mangoes. Mexican mangoes are Kent, Tommy Atkins, Keitt, Haden.... But none are quite what you described!

Are you sure they are not papayas (large black seeds inside?).

If they are green, they need to ripen slightly. I dont think Mexico has any green mango varities (mostly Asian). Wait until then turn yellow-orange-red in color. Remember there is a big seed in the center, so cut around it. There is no best way to eat a mango, just cut and enjoy! Might be Avocado Mangos - are really big and could reach up to 6 pounds each
All mangos are green , originally, when they ripen they turn yellow, or orange, or red
They are like bananas, all bananas are originally green and they ripen
