Why do Canadians think ham is bacon?!

Question:

Why do Canadians think ham is bacon?

If ham is bacon, what is bacon?

Answers: first off, kuddos to my fellow canadians! my question is, why do alot of american think we would be dumb enough to call what you call "canadian bacon" the same way. do the english from england call "english muffins" english muffins or just muffins u think? same goes for the bacon. what u call canadian bacon, is actually called back bacon or peameal bacon here. and normal bacon comes from ham anyway, since it all comes off a pork anyway. it's just their way bacon is ham, silly! Why does everyone gotta pick on canadian bacon.

I'm American. I like canadian bacon. So what if it looks like our city ham. I like city ham, and country ham and canadian bacon, and bacon bacon. It all comes from the HOG.

I like turkey bacon too. I'm assuming you're referring to "Canadian bacon". We don't call it that in Canada. We refer to it as "peameal bacon". Regular bacon is known simply as "bacon". The biggest difference between American Canadian bacon and Canadian Canadian bacon is a matter of smoking. Both bacons are cured, but the American kind also is smoked, which gives it a flavor closer to what we normally call ham. Hope that helps.
Britt It has nothing to do with thinking ham is bacon.

What we call "Canadian Bacon" is made from a completely different cut of meat. Look at it - it looks different. If I remember correctly, Canadian Bacon is made from the loin, ham is definately from the leg and American bacon is from the belly area.

It's pork and it all tastes good! We don't think ham is bacon. We all know what bacon is. What we call back bacon, you call ham. You Americans have it wrong. Im sorry but it is all smoked pork right?
