What is the strangest FOOD you have eaten and where were you?
I have to admit I have eaten whale when I was in Norway. It was in a spicy red sauce but it still tasted oily.
Answers: Roasted guinea pig.
Had it at a party my boyfriend's family was having. They're Ecuadorian, and apparently it's normal for them.
They told me it was chicken, otherwise I never would have put it in my mouth.
I'll tell you one thing -- it's lucky my boyfriend isn't a fan, because it'll be a cold day in hel* when I go buy a guinea pig and prepare it in my kitchen! =) rattle snake in China

I was at a French restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina.
They were okay, but definitely an acquired taste.
Sweetbreads leave a strange aftertaste in your mouth which I really wasn't very fond of....in fact it left me wandering what all the fuss was about over this "delicacy". Spam *barf* tongue....... i thought it was beef (it was made in taco's) then found out what it really was.... and got sick to my stomach
needless to say... i stick to what I'm sure about now.... lol BBQ shark my dad's friend when to Florida one summer and that's what they ate an he brought it back for us to try.... it wasn't good at all Jelly fish salad in a Japanese restaurant. Cut into thin shreds, like noodles. A bit like al dente rice noodles, as I recall. Cactus. I was in the US but the dish was from Mexico. They're supposed to be really good for you, kinda slimey though. An acquired taste. Dog, in Vietnam. It was quite tasty. Snail in an American French restaurant. Brain tacos in Tiajauna Mexico.

Mattaq (raw whale skin and blubber) in Greenland, used as a snack.
Fish eyes in Greenland, used like candy.

Also whale and reindeer in Greenland and Norway, but guess they're not so very strange though.
Alligator sausage in New Orleans. Well, I went to Canada once, and burgers with salsa, carrots, and butter seemed really popular. The burger meat wasn't like the American burger meat either. It was more steaky and not as finely ground. They also added mayo, but no ketchup or mustard. Weird.
