Where can I buy Korean style ribs in Kansas City?!

Question:

Where can I buy Korean style ribs in Kansas City?

Answers: I would find a good butcher that will saw the short ribs for you in slices, then if there is an Asian store that has the marinate or make it yourself.

My marinate goes as follows, I should tell you I was a chef for 20+ yrs and worked a number of Asian countrys.

Korean Bul-go-gihi Rib marinate

1/2 cup of Koream chili paste or chinese chili garlic sauce
1/2 cup hoisin sauce or sweet bean paste
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar, sake or shoji
3 chopped garlic cloves (fine)
2 tablespoons Korean Soya sauce, or Japanese
2 tablespoons of honey or rice malt syrup

If you like it spicier, additonal chilis or Korean chili powder can be added.

This marinate will coat 4 large short ribs cut into 16 pieces.

Mix all ingredients together, rub on short ribs, marinate in the frig for 12-24 hours, then grill for 10-15 minutes turning 2-4 times and serve with the accompaniments or brown in a skillet and bake for 25-30 minutes at 350 until tender and serve as usual. Chosun Korean BBQ in Overland Park looks to be your best bet . Here's a link to a review of them, along with their address and phone number:

Also, here are listings for other Korean restaurants (both the Kansas and Missouri sides). If Chosun is too far away for you, probably one of these will carry what you're looking for;
