Why types of sushi rolls are cooked?!


Question:

Why types of sushi rolls are cooked?



Answers: Sweet Egg, Shrimp, Crab or Lobster, Eel, California Roll, Tempura Roll, Inari (Tofu Pocket)...all of these contain no raw ingredients, and there may be other combinations that do not as well. Cooked sushi....isn't that an oxymoron?

I really don't know but am interested in finding out if there is such a thing. can it REALLY be sushi if it's cooked? Anyway... sushi restaurants usually have a cooked section on their menu. California roll, thats my fave. Its crabmeat and avocado.
Then the spider roll, thats soft shell crab. Shrimp tempura roll. Also very yummy. eel (it's the best -- melts in your mouth!)

Also, California Rolls (crab stick), futomaki (veg rolls), shrimp, tamago (egg). shrimp, crab, eel. and they will probably cook anything you like. the sushi refers to the rice not the fish. In the United States it is illegal to serve raw shellfish (Crab, mussels, etc), eel, or shrimp. So, the sushi restaruants have to cook items that might not be cooked in traditional Japanese sushi. The word sushi does not refer just to the rice. lol. It's refers to the entire dish if you use it in English.
Raw fish is called sashimi and is distinct from sushi. All of the roles can be cooked. When they are in your refrigerator as leftovers, you can heat them up by frying them in a skillet. I have done this numerous times when they are a little dried out. Delicious. California rolls and they are very yummy too. My favorite sushi place has a roll called a candy roll. Here's what it has in and on it:

Inside: Cream Cheese, crab, and Avocado.

Deep fry in tempura batter, slice and set on plate

on top: teriaki sauce, this orange sweet-spicy sauce, green onion, and tamago (fish eggs)

it's really good, because for me, they slice it first, and then deep fry it. Sushi refers to the RICE. Not the fish. The fish is called Sashimi. not much sushi is cooked, but rolls including spicy shrimp and eel i'm pretty sure are cooked.
