What is the brown sauce that is always found in a plastic bottle on the table in Vietnamese restaurants?


The sauce is usually on the table next to the chilli sauce, in a recycled squeeze bottle that used to contain the chilli sauce, so it never has a label. It's fairly sweet and brown and delicious.

Brown kinda thick like a brown ketchup right. I am pretty sure its oyster sauce. It is hoisin sauce (Chinese name). Black bean sauce (Vietnamese name) Hoison sauce! Yummy stuff!
