Answers: Did it look like this?

Lotus Root:

or this:

Daikon:

http://www.bookmice.net/darkchilde/japan... Water chestnuts they are water chestnuts. unlike regular chestnuts that grow on trees, the water chestnut comes from an aquatic plant. Dicots? White radishes. Might be heart of palm...thats a white cylinder looking veggie. If it tastes a little like potatoes as well, it is probably Taro Root. Yum, I love it in Chinese food but is usual cooked in Chinese homes, not so much in restaurants. Did it taste starchy? It might have been taro root. Delicious when fried!
