On a Sushi Menu, what is the difference between the part that has "sushi" and the part that has "rolls&qu!

Question: I'm guessing rolls are like california rolls where they chop it up but what is the sushi? Do you buy it by the piece or does an order come with a few pieces? I'm so confused!!!!

sushi is the raw fish and it may be accompanied by a bed of rice. Rolls are just that. They are fish (cooked or uncooked) w/maybe a veggie, rice and then wrapped in a seaweed (or similar). And you usually get about 4-6 small pieces with each "roll" order.

Maki rolls are cooked.
A roll is usually a large cylinder of sushi, but sushi just means with rice so it can be just a shrimp on a rice ball and thats considered sushi, but it is ALL sushi... unless it says sashimi then its raw fish.
YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE THE RAW FISH..SINCE THAT IS THE SUSHI PART./

I AM ALLERGIC TO MOST SEAFOOD BUT I LOVE SUSHI BARS, I JUST GET A VEGGIE ROLL WHICH IS THE RICE AND VEGGIES SAUTEED IN ORIENTAL SEASONINGS WRAPPED IN SEAWOOD. IT'S PRETTY GOOD.
The sushi part is the rice.
The raw fish part is sashimi.
Rolls are like California rolls.
Usually when you order rolls, you get at least 2 pieces.
rolls are ordered by roll and sushi is normally a la carte.....
