Is there MSG in Thai Food?!

Question: If there's MSG in food, my friend will get a migrane for days. And were going out to eat at a Thai Food Resturant tonight, and I wondering, is there MSG in Thai Food?

Probably at some restaurants, but I think they have to disclose it. Just ask.

Most restaurants try and stay away from it these days, but if they do, they'll tell you. Simply say it's a severe allergy and you must know if it's included in any of the dishes.

EDIT: MSG is a flavor enhancer and has a similar effect to salt, but without it's own flavor. It makes everything else taste stronger and again, doesn't necessarily have it's own flavor. Not all fish sauces have MSG in them. It is purely an additive and not a requirement in ANY recipe or dish!
Yes, fish sauce (it's better tasting than it sounds) is a common component, and it's basically MSG.

You could always order dishes without it, or ask the kitchen not to use it on your friend's dishes. There's lots of Thai food available without it, just don't assume that ALL their food doesn't have it.
