Question: I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like sushi. it looks so good but (to me) it tastes so bad. especially the sea weed.

funny thing - i always keep trying it whenever i come across it and hate it everytime. i guess i thought maybe if i tried a specific one , i might start liking it? haha

i like everything but the sea weed. i just cant get myself to eat it :(
No, has to be cooked for me in order to eat it.
it's ok
i love sushi its soo good...try unagi that my favorite its like eel or something
I love sushi but not ALL sushi.
yes! im going tonight! sushi friday!! WOO!!!
H E L L No i hate it : ) your not all alone after all!
hate it!!!
Only if it's cooked.
i hate sushi
it smells terible
Yes i love sushi especially the spicy tuna and california rolls
I love sushi! I had a friend who also didn't like the seaweed, for most rolls, you can request them to be rolled with rice paper instead. It's a lot less salty and fishy tasting. Or try some sashimi that isn't rolled with anything.
I love sushi!! Do you mix up the wasabi and soy sauce and put ginger in it to dip in?
I have found that yellow tail, red snapper and the fatty tuna are really mild and extremely easy to eat. Also try tuna carpacio - It is awesome and has lots of sauces/spices on it so it really doesn't even taste like sushi.
If all else fails - have a few drinks and you will completely forget about the fishy taste :)
love most sushi, no eel or octopus pls, but most people I know don't like it or don't even want to try ... and not all sushi is raw fish.
Yes, Utah has a great resturant called The Happy Sumo.
i love it!!
Sushi is nasty.
I love some kinds of sushi. California rolls or salmon or tuna with cucumber and avacodo and shrimp maki roll. The maki roll does not have any seaweed, just shrimp, rice and a dab of wasabi. Maybe you would like that? I dip the sushi in soy sauce and add a dab of wasabi. Now I want some!
I love sushi
I hate sushi before until I developed a taste for it. Now I crave for it BIG TIME!!! I asked someone to go with me to a Japanese buffet restaurant and it all satisfied my cravings. Try it again, get one of each kind, put a little wasabe in it and savor the taste. Now I am always excited to go there and taste each kind again and again. I learned to use chopsticks too.
My favorite would be either tuna or salmon nagiri (just the fish artfully arranged on rice). But I've also had a variety of rolls that have been fabulous.
I like the CA rolls a lot and most of it I've tried has been OK. I think it's fun to try new things and there is a lot of sushi to try!
Yes, I love it! Not everything, but most. I second the idea to try unagi. It is cooked. Also, note that there are three grades of fish -- sushi that is sushi bar quality, sushi that is buffet (all you can eat, etc.) quality, and fish that must be cooked. The buffet quality stuff isn't very good, in my opinion. You might get that kind of quality from supermarkets.
I like sushi, however, it is an aquired taste! The hardest thing is getting past the part of it being raw. But you could try california rolls, which technically are not sushi since the protein is not raw at all. All it is, is the seaweed, rice, cucumber, avocado, and crab meat (usually the imitation crab meat) and the meat itself is cooked, just kept cold. Try it with some soy sauce and if you like spicy stuff, put some wasabi on it. (A little wasabi goes a loooong way! lol. ) You can also try it with the pickled ginger too, which all three of those cut the taste of the seaweed.
I love sushi. I was really grossed out by it at first but I finally found one I liked. It's the spicy tuna roll. Some fish tastes worse than others raw. California rolls are pretty mild and good.
I enjoyed some of the comments below. California rolls, and most not all Sushi in Japan is NOT wraped in Sea Weed and is NOT available. That is some nut's interpretation.
Yes, I have been to Japan over 50 times on business.
First question, do you like sea food? Yes? Ok to start with NEVER try sushi of anything you do not like cooked.
Do you like Shrimp cocktail? Yes, unless the sushi is Sweet Shrimp..it is cook or boiled.
Eel is cooked. Salmon is not too bad. Remember sushi is on a rice roll and Sashimi is only the meat.
Skip "Fresh Sashimi"...is alive!!
Been there, done that.
Yes, I do :)
You could try the fried shrimp with rice which is served at sushi bars or you could just have plain cooked fish with some rice underneth it and dipped in soy sauce. You don't have to have sea weed even i don't like eating it all of the time. You could even try the california roll.
no
several things about sushi you should bear in mind.. it doesn't have to contain raw fish (Sashimi) .. it doesn't have to contain seaweed. it doesn't need to contain anything you don't want .. I make my own .. simple!

boil sushi rice (or sticky rice) when it's cold spread it out on cling wrap or foil and allow to 'congeal' then into centre put your own ingredients .. avocado, slivers of carrot, slices of cooked fruit, tinned fish, wasabi (Japanese horse radish) or use hot English mustard .. then roll the rice and contents with the foil/wrap like a cigarette and place in fridge until it has gone very cold .. remove uncover and slice .. voila .. home made sushi
I love sushi its awesome. Best one, the one that got me hooked, s o b I can't remember what it stands for but it was good.
Absolutely not.
