Does anyone know where to buy Kosher cheese and what brands?!
Answers: I'm not Jewish, but I'm vegetarian and looking for cheese that is not made with animal rennet.
There's actually quite a variety of "vegetarian cheeses" out there now, and you don't necessarily have to go Kosher (though that is one option).
BelGioso out of Wisconsin makes a number of excellent, vegetarian friendly, Italian-style cheeses (parmesan, ricotta, etc) for resale in grocery stores. You can find a complete list of the cheeses here:

Tillamook, based out of Oregon, carries a number of cheeses, primarily cheddars, colby, jack and swiss. All of them except the "Vintage White Cheddar" use vegetable or microbial rennets (i.e. plant or bacteria/yeast-based). The website has a store locator, which you can find here:

Tillamook cheese is some of the best I've ever eaten, btw.
If you can't find either BelGioso or Tillamook in your area, you can order them online. Here is a link to Artisan Pantry:

If you're still specifically wanting Kosher cheese, Miller's is supposed to be a good brand, as is Norman's and Strauss. You can find a lot of good info on available Kosher brands at this Kosher foods website:

Good luck!

I have to think about this... let's see... CHEESE is made from MILK and that comes from ANIMALS with CLOVEN HOOFS....
just look for cheese that has a "u" with a circle around it. That means it's kosher. (or a star with a "k" in the middle)
millers,hagadah.... lots more brands all marked kosher
toufi...tofu cheese.. also marked kosker
check the kosher section of the store
Look in your supermarket and check for kosher label or kosher section. Kosher food stores also have a really large selection, but if none around, the supermarket will do it.
Anything kosher dairy will not have meat in it.
In our religion there are some periods, sort of like the Catholic Lent, where were are not allowed to eat meat or meat-by products. So we always check the ingredients. and in most cases you can find out right away if the products such as cheeses are made with rennet or not. If you are this concerned, then writing a letter to the manufacturer will clear up any doubts. Also, in case of gourmet cheeses, which you pick up from a delicatessen, even they are required by law to provide you ingredient information. With some many people turning to vegetarianism these days, the laws are quite clear about these things. You don't have to look for only Kosher foods to insure this. I once wrote to McDonald's consumer information department because I wanted to know what items were 100% vegetarian on their menu. I was amazed how quickly I recieved the reply back.
