german choclate cake and probably pretzels

sourcroute! sorry about spelling!

Strudel? I dunno.. sausage is pretty much to top of the top. Gelb wurst is like a freaking taste-gasm I swear.

How about sauerkraut? I mean, I hate that stuff, but it's pretty popular.

Btw German chocolate cake is actually NOT a native German food, so don't include that.

Lest not forget the Fr?ulein's in lieblichem Riesling.

Pork tenderloin roast in wild mushroom sauce served with home made spaetzle...
Rollmops
Schnitzel layered with good cheese and smoked ham, fried crisp and served with mashed potatoes and peas with slab bacon crisps
Sausage soup with egg yolk dumplings
I can go on and on...
All comfort food really..
And possibly the best cheesecake Viennese-style.

Wiener Schnitzel !

Sauerkraut, Sauerbraten, Wienerschnitzel, Rouladen, Bratwurst Goulash, Baked Breads.

Too many possibilities. Pastry. The French get too much credit for it. The Germans and Austrians perfected pastry.

dark, pumpernickel bread
egg noodles
pickled cabbage
brain sandwiches (no really)
ham
head cheese
sauerbraten
red cabbage
potato dumplings
apples with potatoes and bacon

seriously though, you can't go wrong if you have rye, vinegar, beef, pork, potato or cabbage in the recipe :)

My favorite, Liquid protein a/k/a beer
