Is the Indian diet healthy? Is their food healthy? or unhealthy?!

Question: i'm just curious since i like the indian culture...

Answers: i'm just curious since i like the indian culture...

Indians have a ton of health issues as well: high cholesterol, diabetes, high triglycerides....

Some dishes are healthy, others are not. Stay away from anything deep fried (pakoras & samosas). Nothing cooked in ghee (clarified butter), also dishes that use heavy cream or lots of coconut milk.

The avg Indian eats more simple food on a daily basis (rice, roti, dal, yogurt/raita and veggies). Indian food eaten at restaurants, that's what Indians in India eat on special occassions like engagement parties and weddings!

Home cooked Indian food is very healthy because you control the ingredients. Substitute yogurt for cream, use canola oil instead of ghee/butter, use lite coconut milk....

some are some are not

well it is healthy relatively speaking. Compared to the western dietary habits, indian cuisine is much healthier.

i believe it's pretty healthy
rice,veggies,chicken,fish,fruit...i think they also use alot of coconut and curry

seems pretty healthy to me. how many overweight indians do u see? diet with lots of rice, curry, vegetables, and little red meat, sounds good. they dont eat pork, most dont eat beef, and some only eat a little lamb. a lot of them are vegetarians. curry and hot spices, keeps a colon clean :-)

I could eat it everyday wish we had a good indian to go place around here (florida) that and Thai are the absolute best.

the indian diet is very healthy. u get servings from all ur food groups therefore everything u need every day. 1 thing u should keep in mind: don't eat alot of food at night for dinner unless u excercise.
for example, if u eat dinner at like 6-7 then it's okay. u can pig out. if u eat at 10 or something like that (like me) don't eat alot, cuz the food will just stick. as in, u'll grow a huge belly....
