Can you use egg roll wraps to make wontons?!

Question: Grocery store didn't have the wonton wraps, only these huge egg roll wraps. I have no problem cutting them down to size, but are they made from the same stuff? Will the wontons taste right? Thanks

You can use Egg Roll wraps and they are just fine. Wanton wraps are just thicker in dough and there is yeast in them.

If deep fried, the Egg Roll wraps will taste better and lighter. But if you are steaming or boiling the wanton, it will not taste that good.

yes (as long as they are egg roll wraps and not spring roll wraps)

Yup, they will work fine.

I have used wonton wrappers to make mini eggrolls and it worked perfectly, so it seems logical that you could make wontons with eggroll wraps, but they may not be as tender as wontons if you're using it in soup. I hope it turns out well for you.

Yes I believe they are , I know some one
That uses wantons to make egg rolls

Egg roll wraps can be used and they are made from the same ingredients as the wontons are. Don't worry they still taste delicious, whether you are going to steam, boil or fry them. Why don't you try going to a Asian market if you want wonton wraps, not the regular supermarkets.

Just cut them down to size and they should do just fine.

Take some of them and make some bowls out of them by placing them in a muffin tin and pre-baking until they are formed. Not totally done just formed.

Brown some hamburger meat (1 lb.) and 1 chopped onion together. Drain. Add 1 package of ranch dressing mix. Mix well. In the bowls you pre-baked add a layer of meat mixture and a layer of grated cheese (mild or sharp) and a layer of meat and cheese. Place them bake in the oven and get them bubbly hot and ENJOY!

Just another idea for WonTon Wraps and Egg Roll Wraps!

You could also use them to make crispy gau gee (like a fried dumpling/ravioli). Which reminds me, they're also great for ravioli.

Yes, they are exactly the same thing. They will taste the same.
