India has more than 20 different religions and cultures and hence SEVERAL types of foods...one very different from the other! about 40 percent people in india r vegetarians. Indians do eat with hands because their food comprises mainly of flat bread made of wheat (roti) and vegetable curry (sabzi) or daal (lentil stew). The broad distinction to classify indian foods could be made as North indian and South Indian food.
North indian food focuses more on wheat and corn (paratha) whereas south indian food focuses more on rice (dosa/idli)...but there are many many more types.

Its usually cooked fresh every day in steel utensils like kadai (wok), pressure cooker (for rice and veggies), skillet (for roti). Its cooked with lots of spices and flavors and always served hot!

It is mostly served in steel plates (banana leaves were used long back in south india and are still used rarely).

Modernized indian foods use fusion cooking like indo-chinese, indianized burgers etc... (mcdonalds and pizzahuts in india have way more varities and taste much better than here)...

indian food is traditionally served on banana leaves and they use they fingers to eat thats what i know my indian friends.

In Indian food there r a lot of spices , and they have their own way to cook things. like kabab, chicken, rice, sweets. they present them in simple manners ,in dishes or plates. they eat with hands.

there are two types of indian foods which are very diffrent i.e, the north indian food and south indian food, but both of them share one characteristic that is , both are very spicy.
in south, the food is served sometimes in banana leaves, but in north, simple utensils are used
a 'kadai' is used to fry food
everone eats with their hands......a lot of oil is used, specially in north indian cuisine
