Question: This is the only of the well-known cuisines I have yet to taste and tonight I'm going to an Indian restaurant, but I wanna try some of the more traditional well-known dishes. so any suggestions?

mmmm. So good. I always order a dish called, (pardon the spelling) matar paneer. Paneer is a soft Indian cheese. I believe matar is a tomato type sauce with peas, and vegtables. Also, be sure to order Nann bread, either with garlic or cashews. For an appitizer, order Samoso, potatoes, peas, and spices, breaded and fried.

Chicken tikka Masala is my favourite!

Poppadums with chutney
Tandoori chicken
Naan bread

it depends on what kind of restaurant u r going.....
if u want something Punjabi then order paneer tikka masala
if u want something south indian order dhosa or dosa
or order pav bhaji, bhel.
ummmm i'm getting hungry

Tandoori Chicken
Saag or Palak Paneer (spinach with Indian cheese)
Butter Chicken
Chicken Tikka Masala
Biryani or Saffron Pulao (rice)
Naan, Poori
Baingan Bhartha (eggplant)
Bhindi Masala (okra)
Malai Kofta (dumplings in a creamy tomato sauce)
Pakoras (veg fritters)
Samosas
Mango Lassi (Indian smoothie)
Aloo Gobi (potatoes & cauliflower)
Channa Masala (daal or lentils)

i am indian! i eat native food mopst of the time, so its hard 2 choose. paneer is good - and chicken tikka masala. u also may wanna try murgh chola - chickpeas and chicken

tip (if u want 2 make it @ home, heres an easy way) - if there is an indian store near u, go there and buy shan masala. it gives u the spices in the box - with instructions!

hope this helps!

The best in my opinion is: malai kofta and garlic naan
malai kofta are cheese balls in a sweet creamy gravy... really yummy and not spicy! garlic naan is an indian bread with garlic topping. if u r ordering steamed basmati rice, u can get yellow daal (lentil stew) with it.

For appetizer, try papdi chaat or samosa
For dessert, try gulab jamun
