What do you think about this??!

Question: If you went to a Mexican restuarant that made all mexican dishes but was run by all white and black people and no mexicans worked there, would it still be Mexican food?
OR
Say u ordered chinese food from a place that uve never been to, and when its delivered to u some black dude gives u ur food and theres nothing to justify that a Chinese person actually cooked the food, Is it still Chinese.
Or
Ur at ur friends house who is white and his parents make dinner and they have an Nigerian dish. Even though its called Nigerian is it really Nigerian?

I think that the answer to all of these questions is no.

WHAT DO U THINK???

WHAT DO U THINK???

depends on the cook, I don't it is like language

Yeah Ur right

They call those things those things because its the traditional recipe not the people cooking it.

we are still using there recipes!!! so i think the answer is yes it dosn't matter who cooks a english breakfast its still and a good old english breakfast just some peeps can cook it better then others!

aboustly not kinda going to Russia and think all people speak English there.so my answer is no way jose

As long as it is prepared to be authentic, yes it would be fine. It is the dish not the person making it that is the center of attention.

Do you have to be Italian to cook spaghetti....?

Should all employees at Wienerschnitzel be German....?

............duh.

I'm English, but I cook better Indian food than Indian restaurants. You don't have to be born in Kentucky to to cook great fried chicken!

I think they would have a cheek to call themselves a Mexican Restaurant, and I would not eat there.

I think you are wrong. The race of a person that cooks the food or serves the food or delivers the food has nothing to do with the recipe that was used to make the food.

I wouldn't cared who cooked it as long as the recipe was authentic. But then the Chinese food that you order for delivery is the "American" version pumped with fattening additives for our taste over the years. So to me food is what it is. My Mom can cook Italian food that would put some folks in Italy to shame, but then that is one type of food that she chose to excel in.

The answer is yes. For example, there is a restaurant in Boston. They only serve Turkey. The owner is not American, but it is still an American Cuisine.

It's the recipe not the people who cook the food. My grandmother is from France, and she makes tasty Mexican dishes.

REGARDLESS of who prepared the food, If the traditional recipe is Chinese/Nigerian/Mexican.. Then that's what it is!
I mean just because you don't buy your hamburger in Germany, it's still a HAMBURGER.
You get Pizza from Pizza Hut, which is American owned, but pizza is still a traditional Italian food!
FRENCH FRIES, are not originally from France at all!

What a waste of 5 points!

Mexican food, is Mexican food, because the ingredients, traditions, flavors, sauces etc are originally from Mexico. It has no regard to who serves it. Same with Chinese, or any other cuisine for that matter. Just consider this, all people, from all places/races, live everywhere. You cant determine a person soley on their skin color. Even from which country the come from. Consider this...I have a friend...his family is from Thailand, so he is Thai when you consider ethnicity. However, he was born in, and still lives in France, speaks French, etc. He doesnt work in a restaurant, but if he did, and the food was French, would you still think the food was French if he was the one who cooked it for you? Or would it be Thai?? Obviously it would be French, because its the origin of the food, not the origin of the person cooking or serving it.

It's not about WHO made the food, it's how it was prepared and whether or not it was made according to the cultures specifications/traditions. Just like an English chef who's specialty maybe Italian or French. You may still be eating a French cuisine prepared by a person not of French decent which still follows the traditions and culture of French cuisine. Now if a person, no matter who, made an order of of Enchiladas using canned products, then no, it's not Mexican food, it's generic.

Your off base sunny. If you were a cook with a pimple on your nose, would you call that pimple food? and only people with pimples on their nose were allowed to call it, pimples only please. Anybody can call the food that they serve what ever they want, its up the customer to judge not you. Next time you go to a restaurant ask for your favorite food and remember to inspect his nose.

It is all your opinion..
BUT
IF your paid $50.00 for a Mexican (ANY) cookbook
and 'you' Precisely Followed the instructions,.
did your get cheated ($$$) because 'YOU' made it
What a waste of time

It's a pretty good question as most ethnic restaurants generally owned by people who are represented by their ethenticity. However there are many that are not.Alot of times you see Greeks that own and run pizza places,or Arabs owning deli's and other American fare food establishments.I've been to some pretty good Greek owned pizza places and have been to a Chinese restaurants owned by an American with no Asian employees and an Italian restaurants owned by Jewish man( the chef was Italian but no one else was). It's all in the recipe.

The ethnicity is in the cuisine not the cook (or the delivery person for that matter). For example, if that food's origins is China, then it is chinese food regardless of who cooked it.
