Here is a web site which show all places in the world about where to buy those types of food
Oh yeah - shawarma... I live in Saudi Arabia and there's a place in downtown Al Khobar that makes the best shawarma... I think I'll have that for lunch tomorrow.
[edit] the same foods are called different things in different places... sometimes even in the same place... A gyro from "those middle-eastern people" is called shawarma here in Saudi. They are (like all food here) halal, delicious, and inexpensive.
I had one once and your right they were the best i was in Connecticut when i had one and it cost eight dollars but it was well worth it. as far as new york sorry i don't know . i wish they had here up in Maine
Do not know where you can get one in New York. George's here in DC has some.
That being said, now how about a substitute that you make for yourself?
Go to the below URL.
This is my help from Washington, DC, United States of America.
I had gyros before and I totally agree w/ U .. they taste very good.
a gyro is Greek, you must be talking about something else.
it will be hard to find if you don't know the name.
just go to stands, VERY cheap and tasty, i think theres at least 1 stand near a college =]
Delicious! I was in Greece last summer and oh I was in heaven. The yoghurt, the heebs, the olives. No they are not always halal. Look for a greek, or middle eastern neighborhood that might sell them.
