Sushi calories/health question?!
Answers: is sushi healthy for you? about how many cals come with one california roll? i know it depends on whats in the roll, but give me a range?
read this.....the truth about sushi......http://diet.ivillage.com/issues/ichoices...
I have read that article and in my opinion it hardly covers what its topic promises.
There are probably hundreds of kinds of sushi and not all include fish or shells like oysters.
The nori inside or outside of your maki-sushi (rolled sushi) is considered healthy.
If you eat nigiri-sushi (often fish or shells on top of rice) you have to differ.
Some kind of fishes and especially some parts of the fishes have comparably high calories: this is certainly true for ootoro (part of tuna) and (toro-)salmon and less for bonito and some other types.
Fish and shells like oysters should be eaten fresh, not only in the Japanese cuisine. I would expect from every restaurant I visit that they follow the standards.
The wasabi is said to be antibacterial.
It is usually hot (!), but if you taste it directly after it has been taken from the field it is almost sweet.
However, for the sake of your stomach and the taste buds you should restrict yourself...
Reduce the soy sauce consumption because of its salt content.
For pregnant women: restrict the sushi consumption if it includes fish and shells (!!)
Be aware that the bigger fishes are standing at the upper part of the food chain...
I have no idea how many calories one california roll has...
