What chiles are used in spicy Indian foods?!

Question: Indian food usually uses the small green Thai bird chilies, we dont remove the seeds nor the inner membranes (that seems so useless & wasteful, then just use a green bell pepper!).
They are just called "mirchi" (green chilies). Red chilies are known as "lal mirch" but most people jjust use the small green ones for cooking.

We also use dried red Indian chilies and red chili powder.
