Hindus who eat paneer please answer!?!
Thank you for taking the time to answer this and ask.
Answers: Do you or your parents make paneer or buy it store bought? I notice there is no organic paneer in Indian stores (I don't see it sold in regular stores at all), is this paneer imported from India or made in USA? If imported in India, the cows are well taken care of I assume. If the paneer is made in USA, and its not organic, how can Indians eat it knowing the cruel standards of traditional dairies here (this is why we now have organic milks, butter, etc).

i don't know of anyone that makes paneer at home. it is a very cumbersome and tedious procedure, moreover you cannot make good paneer with homogenised milk. everyone i know in usa and canada use nanak paneer. it is the best paneer. also, for your info, the only paneer that comes from india is amul fried paneer and it was banned due to fungus growth. cows are sacred in india, however you must see ndtv news on urea milk. you will stop eating dairy products from india, i am not kidding pleae see the article on UREA MILK IN THE INDIAN DAIRY INDUSTRY, this will knock the socks off.
since i saw the news clip on urea milk (milk made with water, gum and urea) i have stopped buying anything that contains milk and is made in india.
the dairy industry in usa still allows hormone shots to cows for higher milk production but canada does not allow any hormone shots to cows. hence nanak, made in canada is the best choice for quality, value, availability and resemblence to indian paneer.
You can buy organic milk and make your own paneer at home. My mother does this. Cows are treated like royalty in India, so no worries there. It's illegal to mistreat or harm them.
Alot of my friends substitute tofu for paneer these days.
I buy store bought paneer alot, it's easier & convemient. It's made in NJ (Nanak, Deep, Laxmi brands.....). I never thought about it that way (like most Indians). I will make it myself at home using organic milk!
Although it may seem that cows are treated well in India, its not true...most of them are kept in poor hygeinic conditions, are malnourished, do not get any meds for their infections/diseases, ill-sanitary environment, are dehydrated as they are kept in the sun without any shelter....I do not think organic is necessarily good either.
most Indians are vegetarian by religion not ideologically... they still buy leather goods, leather shoes and bags and are pretty ignorant of how the animals are treated.
I dont see why we should buy organic products because if the cow has had an infection in the body...its better to treat that and not let it suffer or people who drink its milk suffer.
Desi Chef, that's a great idea! I too will now buy organic milk and make my own paneer! Thanks!!
i think Desi Chef is right
but we buy the panner in the stores and i think the one we get is made in India
if not
buy organic milk and make it ur self
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paneer in India is mostly prepared at home and when we do use it in our preparations we buy it. Usually the people with cows make it and can be ordered from them. The organic concept is of U.S. origin. If by organic you mean fed natural stuff, it's been organic here though we never really thought about it.
