Depends. I like plastic containers for non-reheating items and especially marinated meats to be grilled elsewhere (no spillage).
Foil acts as both as a container and possible cookware for reheating at someone else's place.
I like foil because it's one time use - although you think about the environment, worrying about where your plasticware went can be an issue.

Personally I prefer the taste of the plastic containers, but its down to the individual some may prefer the foil.
