Fustrated w/ the Ethnic Foods isle.?!


Question: Is anyone else annoyed that the only foods that seem to be on the ethnic foods isle of grocery stores are Hispanic and Chineese? What about if I want something Jewish, German, Greek or say Middle Eastern. I live in NC so maybe it's only a problem here. Anyone else experiencing this? Opinions?

We have all those here what store? do you have any similar to
Albertsons or Safeway they have it they have specialty stores
for it too check Yellowpages.com.

    • if your area has any group of these ethnic peoples living nearby then you will probably find a better stocked specialty store catering to them and the prices, quality and freshness will be much better. My friends in Nashville were always complaining about how limited the ethnic options were until the discovered a great Asian/Hispanic/Middle Eastern market that was obviously were many of the regions ethnic people were shopping. Near me there is a big supermarket with overpriced, lousy produce but in the same shopping center is an Arab market with just the best produce at half the price. And of course they have all the Arab specialty foods.
    Yes. I'm English and used to all types of ethnic foods. Unfortunately I live in a small town in Michigan and have to travel miles to buy a decent piece of cheese, fish and many other things. Lack of diversity in American supermarkets is dismal.

    I live in Texas and in our local grocery stores there are Hispanic(a lot for obvious reasons), Asian, Jewish, Italian, and a small Import section.

    Once you learn how to use these spices like hoisin sauce, fish sauce, and garlic chille paste, etc, You will be in heaven.
    Try it, you may like it and I am a Norwegian ..... by the way.
