Freezer Paper — Who Knew!?

I keep reading bits and pieces here and there about cool things you can do with freezer paper so I decided to do some searching on Craftster to see what the heck everyone is talking about.

So first off, freezer paper has been around for a long time but I don’t think it’s used much any more. It’s this nice heavy paper that’s plain on one side and then waxy or plasticy on the other side. If you’re having trouble finding it at your local grocery store, have no fear because lots of places on the internet sell it. Just do a google search for it.

Be sure you use “freezer paper” and not “wax paper” because wax paper is waxy on both sides and you only want it to be waxy on one side.

here's an image of said item

I've never heard of it either.

Perhaps if you describe what it is that might help.

Freezer bags maybe, To freeze food in

We use freezer bags. They're plastic bags (come in various sizes) that don't go brittle after months in the freezer.

We don't put paper in our freezers. Must be a Yanky thing! U weird people!

I think it's called freezer paper here too but far less common - you're more likely to find it in a craft/hobbyist store

definition:
Freezer paper is a fairly heavy white paper i.e. dull paper on one side with a plastic coating (originally wax) on the other side, originally intended for the wrapping of meat for the freezer. However, the shiny side will stick to fabric when pressed with a hot iron

What is the purpose of freezer paper exactly? I never heard of it either. Maybe you might mean parchment paper? It's similar to greaseproof paper and used by cooks for the same sort of purposes but less shiny, if that makes sense. You can use it to line cake baking tins, for example.

It's called freezer paper in the uk too, but it's used more for crafts and making things not for food prep, you can buy it in craft stores here.

Grease proof paper is used to line cake tins. Never heard of freezer paper we do have freezer bags.

what the hell is freezer paper? we dont put paper in the freezer, we put bags in the freezer they are called freezer bags
