How come my blender sometimes seems to get an air pocket in the bottom and doesnt' puree the food?!

Question: I try adding more liquid and adjusting the speed and mahsing it a spoon or taking it out and shaking it. This happens with a thicker and thin fluids, but only sometimes. It usually flows and makes a whirlpool and keeps circulating the food. But tonight again, it wouldn't and the top food just sat there, even on high! Even after adding more liquid. What am I doing wrong. It is a pretty good blender.... one of those old OSCAR ones taht still have the glass container... not a $30 Walmart one by any means. I try to make baby food in it and sometimes I get that whirlpool/funnel things going and it purees beautifully and sometimes it doesn't.

It is either you have add too much into the blender or too little liquid to help smooth the paste. I had also encountered same problem with my Philip model. You need to ensure that the food amount only exceed slightly beyond the level of the highest blade, and add some liquid to create smoother puree.

Speed's too high.
