Same here, I work in a kitchen and my boss won't even let me come in the kitchen without my hat on.

And not only not wearing hats, some of them have the revolting habit of dipping their fingers in the food to try it. Yuck!!!

In my opinion the most disgusting one has to be Nigella Lawson (not that she's a proper chef anyway)

It amazes me why they don't especially the ones with the long hair.

You are right there.
Hair -raising point.

yeah, but its not a legal requirement, you just have to have hair tied back if its long.

the truth is it's TV, and they dont actually use what they are cooking, they got somethink made that they have spent ages perfecting and to look good to show us.

I know. They also taste food with a spoon then put it back in the food too! And they sometimes don't wash their hands after handling raw meat then cooked stuff - yuk! They should be setting us a good example.

I am aformer chef and would like to field my guess, as it is a non-commercial kitchen, and most have several dishs prepare to exibit to the Telly viewers, some things can not be done in half an hour. As for the spoons and ones who are not trained chefs, Nigella was a food crtic and writer for the "Times". It is unhygenic, but they are not trying to train but entertain. Plus that dish may only be a display version, do think she would clamp her "cakehole" on a dish that was not right.

Look at Jamie Oliver and his new "Jamie at Home" series, he is rummaging around in the garden, dirt all over his hands, and he uses those chipped dishes that look like they were from a church jumble sale???

Look at it like football and wrestling, they are there to entertain and fill the time slots, not create food for most people, as some of it would cost a few more bob than any one of us can afford, I am from Canada and we get all the U.K and U.S shows, I have worked with a few of the Canadian celebs when in the trade, and just take it for what it was made for, entertainment not education.
