What's the difference between pork and bacon ??!

Question: They look and taste so different but from the same animal WHY ?

Answers: They look and taste so different but from the same animal WHY ?

pork is the name meat from hogs/pigs, as in beef from cows, mutton from sheep, venison from deer etc etc. . bacon is salt cured pork belly, sometimes smoked (as in Italian pancetta). ham is also pork but from the hind leg. Also salt cured and smoked and often aged for up to a year.

different parts of the body different process

Bacon is defined as any of certain cuts of meat taken from the sides, belly or back of a pig that may be cured and/or smoked. Meat from other animals may also be cured or otherwise prepared to resemble bacon, such as beef, lamb, chicken, goat or turkey bacon. Pork is just any meat of a PIG.

Are you serious?!

The meat is processed differently. Lots of salt in bacon.

Bacon is cured, usually with salt, and flavoring is added.

Bacon is cured pork.

the way it is cured

Pork is meat straight from the animal with nothing done to it. Bacon is cured, i.e. salted and left to mature. sometimes it is also smoked, which gives it extra flavour.

Bacon is a variety of pork. So is ham. Neither one tastes like plain pork chops or pork roast because of the way they're cured and seasoned.

it`s were the meat is taken from the animal

First of all they they are prepared differently - cooked differently too. Of course they don't taste the same. I'm not sure about this - but they might be different parts in the body.

bacon comes from the under side of the pig it is cured with sodium nitrate and smoked with chemical flavorings or real hickory smoke depending.canadian is taken from the loin of the pig like pork chops and cured the same way. the cured thighs are called hams.the sholders are called picnic hams.

bacon has been smoked, where as fresh pork has not been. Fresh ham is basically a gigantic pork chop (to me, at least). Smoked ham (like spiral-ham) tastes the way ham in general is thought to taste (if this makes sense lol)...think deli ham...that'd be smoked ham.

Bacon is taken from belly, sides etc and either salted or smoked to preserve it.

Pork is any part of the animal and has not been treated in any special way.
