1) Yes. because organic foods tend to have less "bad" stuff in them if processed (HFCS, Hydrogenated oils, no GMO's)
2) Yes, because organic foods do not use synthetic poisons and it is a requirement of the USDA NOP that organic farmers to keep their certification must pay attention to soil and keep it healthy and growing. Healthy soil leads to healthier veggies and livestock because healthy soils have a far more complete complement of nutrients than soils fertilised with synthetic NPK fertilisers. Healthy soils also lead to higher yields overall, especially during drought years
3) yes, from reading articles from web sites such as http://www.newfarm.org, http://www.oganicconsumers.org and http://www.acresusa.com. Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser also discusses industrial organics. That, and I am a formerly certified organic market grower and it is my job to know about such things. I discuss IO on my blog fairly often http://boulderbelt.blogspot.com
4) grudgingly. I already know that far too often industrial organics are barely organic. But for things i cannot grow myself or source locally like coffee and bananas I go with the IO stuff.
5) Yes, have not read it yet.
6) I always support local, local organic, local certified organic over industrial organic. I say this because I am a grower myself that sells direct to my customers (the locavores) and I really believe buying local is far superior to buying industrial no matter how the food is allegedly grown.

Omg!!!! I was chose Best answer again without me voting for myself!!!! Yeepeee!!!!
wtf?
I HATE ORGANIC FOOD..IT MAKES ME FART FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
ORGANIC DOES NOT MEAN SAFE
1)yes when availiable
2)I believe it is healthier(less preservatives)
3)I have never heard of industrial organic but I may read up on it
4)oh yes if I think it was ok
5)no
6)locally grown I love helping out the neighbors. not to mention it is enviromentally better because they don't have to ship it anywhere.
1 I buy organic vegetables and milk, because that is what i consume the most of
2. I think organic is more healthy to a certain extent but I don't think non-organic will necessarily harm you. I think that modified could be considered more environmentally friendly because they could be modified in such a way where they can survive a certain disease, etc.
3. I have never heard of the term. I'm assuming it's a fairly new thing.
4. N/A
5. Nope.
6.
1) i believe in sustainable agriculture and try to buy locally grown foods whenever possible, organic is not the most important thing for me when buying food.
2) I believe that organic food is natural and in theory that should be better for us and the environment. I know studies don't show it but I still believe it.
3) I'm a culinary student and we have talked about sustainable agriculture and how "organic," now that so many people will buy it, has become mass produced and not much different than regular industry food. I think that is what you mean by industrial organic.
4)It's the main reason I don't buy organic stuff at the supermarket. Like I said, I choose locally grown stuff first.
5)Yes
6) Locally grown, ideally it would be both, but I believe so much less energy is put into producing my pear I get from my neigbor than the "organically" produced pear from Chile.
