What is the difference between the different types of donuts that exist and how many types are out there?!
Answers: I always hear about cake donuts, old fashioned donuts, raised, fried but I have no idea of the difference can someone please explain me?
Cake donuts have no yeast in them. They are denser and heavier and pressed out of a mold directly over the hot oil. Raised donuts are made with a yeast-based dough and must rise first then are cut on a machine and dropped in the oil. All donuts are fried.
Wow. Good questions. Raised are the ones are chewier, with a more bread-like texture. The cake ones have a more cake-like texture. I think that most donuts, if not all, are fried for at least a short period of time. That's how they cook.
