Who buys organic and why?!
Answers: i am doing a report for nutrition. I would like to know why people buy organic food and why some people don't
I try to buy organic as much as I can... to live longer, and to support the local farmers. Farmer's market is the bomb!!!
me, because i want to live long! read schatalova
I buy it because it has less byproducts. Sometimes the taste isn't all it's cracked up to be, but at least I'm eating healthy. I always check the labels; not everything you buy these days can be considered strictly organic. Ingredients are the key.
I do when I think about it and there isn't a big difference in price. I would like to buy all organic meat ie no hormones but its hard to find and more expensive.
I buy organics because are free from pestcides, chemicals and food coloring. My sons behavior have changed just by changing their diet.
Studies have indicated that food additives in particular, especially some coloring and preservatives, can trigger off hyperactivity as well as other reactions; many of these additives have been steadily removed from foods as consumers have successfully protested at their use. If you child has a high proportion of foods containing coloring etc. then it may well be worth exploring a diet without such additives to see if this makes a difference. Changes in behavior may take 3-4 weeks to be noticeable, although strong reactions to additives can be eased within a day or so.

( the price) is the biggest reason, and there is almost no such thing as true mass produced organic food. Organic food is grown by natural means aka a mixture of dung and clean dirts. however to be truly organic the cow must have a completely organic diet as well . So really its very hard to find true organic food. there are just so many variables that have to be observed.
I always buy organic fruit and veggies if I can. They aren't always as big and pretty, but they taste much better! I get so grossed out when I pick up an apple and it is coated in a white film of pesticides, so thick you can actually see it and smear it around. I buy free-range meat when I can too, because it's a smidge less cruel.
I buy organic because more and more these days scientists are finding common chemicals from food products in our bodys.
Meat is high in growth hormones which some believe to lead to early puberty as well as antibiotics from close living quarters which also kill bacteria that process food causing the animal and perhaps humans to turn the food more into fat, organic meats are really lean but pricey. Milk and eggs also get these chemicals and pass them on to you.
Vegetables are hit with pesticides and fertilizers which in about half of the fruit and vegetable types become sequestered in the fruit for humans to consume. Some fertilizers have also been found to act as on estrogen causing rise in hermaphroditic amphibians near farm areas.
Fish is about the only thing that one would think would be naturally organic however one always has to think about ocean pollution(heavy metals, mercury), and what they feed the fish in fish farms. Also in fish farms we only grow carnivorous fish for consumption which causes extremes in the ocean food chain which may cause massive fish populations to go extinct, and large levels of hunger as fish is a major food source for a lot of the world.
Sorry to sound like a doom-sayer but this is why I eat organic.
I hope this helps.
