Is wholewheat bread in the USA the same as?!

Texture and appearance wise, yes it's essentially the same. Wholemeal (or wheat) bread is actually sweet in the US, maybe not to their palates.....but it tastes like wholemeal bread with a cup of sugar in it...blergh.
