Food and Coldness question?!

Question: My power went out for 4 1/2 hours, I threw away the meat in the refrigerator, but I had some American cheese in there too, a brand new pack not opened yet, and some butter.

Do you think those are ok, or should I throw them away?

I don't know if they were cold when the power came back on, because I wasn't there.

4 1/2 hours is nothing to worry about. The cheese and butter are fine, especially if the fridge was not opened a lot during the 4 1/2 hours.

If you are not sure, I would say throw it out. Better to be safe than sorry.

Shoot, I wouldn't have even thrown the meat away if it was only 4 1/2 hrs. I think it would be safe to say that the butter and cheese is okay..
