Approach the table once everyone has seated themselves with glasses of water and greet them (
hello, how is everyone doing today) along with introducing yourself (saying your name). If there are any specials going on, inform them of them if the Hostess didn't already do so.
Ask them if you can start them off with a beverage (listing off a few drinks the restaruant offers that are special). Once they have chosen drinks, offer an appietizer.
Once drink and appitiezer order has been taken, say that you will given them a few moments to look over the menu, while you get their drinks.
Get back to the table within a few minutes, if the drinks are not ready yet, approach the table to take their order and say their drinks will be ready shortly...Before taking their order ask if the bill will be all together or seperate. Once they start ordering, try to "up-sell" (ex, if they order hash browns, ask if they would like to add Cheese or Onion to them).
Once they have ordered, bring out the appeitizer when its ready or any soups or salads they have ordered for before the meal. Check on them to see if the "before the meal" items are good (ask if everything is alright so far)...
Watch the table so pick up dirty dishes or see if drinks need to be refilled.
Bring the food out with any condiments they may need (ex if order a burger, bring ketchup and mustard, unless it is already on the table)
place food in front of the customers and once all food has been placed on the table, ask if there is anything you can get anyone, if so, get it, if not say "enjoy your meals"...Check back on them once they have taken the first bite...(how is everything so far)....
If it is around lunch time ask if they would like dessert, if not then leave them the bill as people during lunch are sometimes in a hurry to get in and get out....
keep an eye on table for dirty dishes, and refills on anything.
Once meal is close to finished offer Dessert, giving a few suggestions and ask if anyone would like a to-go box. If they decline ask if there is anything else they would like today, if not, give them bill, letting them know if they need to pay at register or if you may tender their bill for them. If they get dessert, bring it out and bring extra spoons and plates so they can split it is if needed to do so. Once dessert is finished pick up dishes and bring bill.
If they pay at register, tell them thanks for coming and hope to see you again once you ahve given bill.
If you are tendering the bill, make sure to watch for when its ready then once its taken care of tell them thanks and have a great day...
