Americans didn't eat that? Weird right? Read the Details plz!!?!
Answers: Hi folks, i'm persian, Anar (Pomegranate) in persian, is my favorite all time fruit, we persians, use it every single day these days, it's totally nutrient, and it's so deliciuos, we use it in lots of recipes and it's an Awesome fruit. An american friend of mine who lives in Baltimore MD, says that he didn't even see one of these fruits so far! I went on the internet to check if that's true, i figured it out, they are raising it in Clifornia and some southern states, and it's new since 2001. Did you ever tasteit? If not then go and buy some and eat it. So if oe of you guys have tasted it so far, would you mind telling me how it felt for the first time? Did you like it? I mean, i myself didn't ever eat an avocado, the other day i ate some, and i was kinda throwing up! So tell me how it felt. Thanks!
I am American and the first time I had a Pomegranate was when I was traveling in Europe about 20 years ago. It was a treat! Although it is messy but eating it felt "sensual" and decadent. ;-)
The main reason Americans didn't eat it much is that it was rare and hard to obtain in the USA until only recently. Pomegranates are still very expensive for us, so much more than other fruits like oranges, cranberries, grapes, bananas, and many other that we are able to grow.
By the way, Americans will try and eat almost anything at least once, and love it or hate it. If it looks like we eat the same things all the time, like beef, wheat, corn, etc., it's because they are more widely available, cheap and versatile to cook with - they're ingredients we've had here and from Europe/South America/Africa since before our country was "born," so there are a lot of recipes that were handed down through our families.
I've bought one and cut it in half and wondered HOW to eat it! How? Eat the white sections between each red juicy little bulb? Email me, will ya, when you answer this!
I for one love pomegranates! Pomegranate juice has been growing in popularity over the past few years for its many health benefits and delicious taste. One of the more popular brands is POM. The first time I ever ate a pomegranate... hmmm, it was delicious. Like eating little bursts of wine. Yum!
They sometimes have them at my local supermarket, I've eaten a couple. They're OK, but a bit messy.
Pomegranate juice is pretty popular in North America right now for its antioxidant properties, and while the fruit is here, it is not widely popular as an everyday fruit.
But avocado...mmm...avocado...sooo good, especially mashed up with some tomato, garlic and lime juice...or sliced up on a fresh green salad...
I was born and raised in California and I've been loving pomegranates way before 2001. YUM!! I like how they're tart.
Avocados are freaking amazing; keep trying them. Guacamole is always a favorite. You can keep it really simple or add a bunch of stuff, but here's the basic recipe:
Smash an avocado (not puree, the chunks are good), then add lime juice and salt. Eat with chips, spread on bread, eat with any Mexican food. You can also add garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, green onions and jalapeno. :)
I like the taste , but wonder if the little bit of fruit that comes out of a good sized ball is worth the effort .
Never eaten a pomegranate, don't like avacado either so i'm with ya on that one.
i've had pomegranate every now and then since i was little...so for 14 years or so...its actually really pretty popular in the states because americans are so obsessed with quick fixes as far as health foods and the pomegranate is being touted. i like it alot. and just so u kno, avocado is DELICIOUSE!
Pomegranates??? Of COURSE we eat them! They grow here (in California), and I've been eating them and drinking pomegranate juice since I was a little girl. I love them so much....
I don't like avocados either... *blech*
oh yes... we eat them!! They are the best, and if you haven't tried one...now's the time!! I'm only upset that they aren't a year 'round fruit!! They are the best, and the pomegranate juice is just as good... it's just not as fun.... so dig in people... enjoy!!!
Oh, and avocado are great in a salad, or in a dip / guacamole
