Pickles- need refrigeration? Left out over night.?!

Question: I accidentally left a large of pickles out on the counter overnight. I opened the jar just then, so they were room temperature. The lid says "refrigerate after opening." My husband thinks they're still ok, but I'm not sure! Thanks!

No, pickling is actually a method of conservation. You can pickle things to make them last longer. So simply having left them out over night won't be a problem.

Mmmmm, pickles.....

Enjoy!

the brine kills germs. They are fine.

when I lived in Turkey there were pickle shops everywhere, and not a fridge to be seen... and I survived! Should be fine, but don't make a habit of it :-)

I think they should be okay. I do that all the time and don't get food poisoning or anything. But smell them to make sure. :)

My husband does tha too, he will say everything is still okay. But as for pickles they are probably still okay after only the night.

Your pickles won't be quite as crisp. The temp and texture are changed by refrigeration. Food safety is not altered. Enjoy...unless you just prefer cold pickles.

pickles don't have to be refrigerated after opening...EVERYTHING with liquid says that. I mean if u don't plan on eating them for a year then YES put them in the fridge but ONE night is not going to hurt...hell ONE month wouldn't hurt. ur hubby's right this time.
