They're all different, right?

America: French fries we call them like at McDonald's.
France: What we Americans call Chips in a bag, crisp.
England: They're like bigger French fries, more fat and longer.

England they call em Chips, in france they call them pomme frits in the US they call em fries. They are all potatoes cut into thin long strips and fried until super done inside and crispy on the outside. you can also do the same for sweet potatoes too! also very good!

We call them fries in America, in Britain they're called chips. How they're sliced may vary but they are basically fried potato wedges.

For the record the potato chip was created back in the 1870's when a disgruntled chief decided to get back at a customer for sending back an order of fries for them not being crisp enough. So he deliberately overcooked them. The result became an instant overnight sensation.

In America they are sliced fried potatoes; thus called french fries or just fries.
